The Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum held its grand opening on October 1st, 2005, during the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is an educational institution of engaging exhibitions and informative programs on the history, science and art of ballooning.
The Museum encompasses an international, national and regional perspective demonstrating the global development of ballooning achievements through exhibitions, collections and programs designed for diverse audiences.
The Museum also showcases the adventurous spirit, endeavors and achievements of individual balloonists.
Volunteering at the Anderson - Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is a great way to learn about the history of ballooning, gain new experiences, and make friends. It is also a way to get involved in the community and to share your talents with others.
With the help of volunteers, the museum staff is able to accomplish a great deal more than we would alone.
Several positions are available including:
VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Docents - Greet visitors, give gallery tours, assist children with educational programs or help to create a special event and educate visitors regarding specific exhibits and/or collections. Curatorial Assistants - Assist the Museum's curators with tasks related to the museum's educational programs, archives or collections. Greeters - Welcome museum visitors and assist with visitor's questions regarding museum events, programs, and activities. Database entry - Updating outreach databases and misc. office duties Classroom Assistants - Assist Curator of Education with children's programs. Photographers - Special events as needed. Videographers - Record special events as needed. Office Assistants - Greet visitors, answer phones, return calls, fax documents, light filing, envelope stuffing, correspondence, printing and assist staff as needed. Assignments may vary. Special Events Personnel - To assist in misc. duties during special Balloon Museum Events

VOLUNTEER HOURS Daily - Tuesday through Sunday (Monday - Closed)
Morning 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Afternoon 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday Afternoon 12 noon - 5 p.m. Special Events and summer exhibits may have additional evening hours.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Submit completed application and meet with Volunteer Program Coordinator to match skills and interests; attend required museum orientation and training in order to effectively perform duties; work, a minimum, of one 4-hour shift per week (alternate hours can be arranged); outgoing, friendly personality.
